Tips you need to know before purchasing Business Insurance.

1. Select the right type of business insurance.  Business policies are written to cover specific types of situations and the type of business you're in will determine the type of insurance you need. 
2. State statutes determine what kind of business insurance you need.   Find out about the specific types of risk and the coverages your state requires with your independent insurance agent (Workers Comp/Automobile in particular). 
3. Business insurance costs vary among carriers.  Shop different carriers to make sure you're getting the best rate
4. Understand that it's possible that you can be sued.  Check into general liability insurance to make sure you're protected. 
5. Homeowners insurance doesn't cover your home based business
6. Insure your business against the loss of YOU!  Overhead insurance will pay rent, utilities, payroll and other necessities if you're ill or injured
7. Consider an umbrella policy to guard against catastrophic circumstances. 
8. Consider business interruption insurance; especially if you live in an area where natural disasters happen more often.  This covers business related expenses in the event of a natural or man made disaster. 
9. Continue to update and review your insurance needs as your business grows.
